In Nosy Be, Madagascar, hospitality is becoming a pathway to education, employment and a brighter future. Wings of Change is a non-profit organization created to provide fully funded education and professional training to young people living in extreme poverty who would otherwise have little or no access to schooling. At the heart of its mission is a Vocational Hospitality & Tourism School, where students acquire practical skills for careers in Madagascar’s growing tourism industry. The programme also includes English, French and Italian language courses, as well as computer and digital literacy classes, helping young people develop the confidence and skills needed to enter an increasingly international workplace.
A Hotel With a Purpose
To support this mission, Wings of Change created Wings Hotel with Purpose, where hospitality directly contributes to education. 100% of net revenue from guest stays funds free education and professional training for financially challenged youth through the organization’s English E-cademies and Vocational Hospitality & Tourism School. In this model, choosing where to stay becomes a meaningful part of the journey. By staying at Wings Hotel with Purpose, guests are directly contributing to education and professional opportunities for local young people.
Meeting Madagascar Through Local Eyes
The experience goes beyond the hotel. Guests can meet Wings of Change students, exchange knowledge and discover aspects of authentic Malagasy culture and local life through their eyes. Excursions can also be arranged through the organization, providing income for local guides while creating additional opportunities to train young people for careers in tourism.
It is a virtuous circle: travellers discover Madagascar, local communities benefit from tourism, and young people gain skills and opportunities to build their future.
